American Honda Motor Co. Complaint

Customer Complaint : N012013-010700558 - 2003 Honda Odyssey

I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey that I bought dealer certified in 2006 with 60k miles on it. I have driven it in regular driving conditions in city suburbs and highways.
Last few days, the van started giving jerks while driving. Last Saturday, the TCS indicator and Check Engine light came on and the van started giving more jerks while driving. The vehicle was having issues accelerating. The next day I took to Honda dealer and he diagnosed it as P0730 : Incorrect Gear Ratio. They did not say much more about this except that it needed a new transmission.
Found out from local transmission shops that this is a common problem with Honda Odyssey%u2019s. The automatic transmission goes bad. It even locks up wheels on the highway once it goes bad causing grave safety issues. Customers have had to pay thousands of dollars to get a new transmission. There are hundreds of complaints about Honda Automatic Transmission all over the internet in various car forums. Many customers like me are left in the dark figuring out how they are going to pay for these expensive repairs.
When I contacted Honda Customer Relations, they told me they cannot do anything to help me.
This is outrageous considering the fact that we buy Honda%u2019s assuming it runs reliably for a long time at least 200K miles. And to find out that the transmission breaks down a lot in Honda vehicles is simply unacceptable. I have changed my mind about Honda, I no longer consider it reliable.
I am ready to now file a complaint with National Highway Transmission Safety Authority (NHTSA) and even thinking of approaching the Better Business Bureau.
This is simply unacceptable. Honda should take ownership of the problem in their automatic transmissions and replace damaged transmissions for customers who faced these problems at no cost.
I use the van to transport my kids and family and it serves our daily needs. Now we are left to wonder looking at the estimates for these expensive repairs.
This will not cut for me. I will not accept this and I expect Honda to take ownership of the issue and assist me. Why should I pay for a Honda design problem. I don%u2019t think my next car will be a Honda.
My complaint no with Honda : N012013-010700558
I bought this van in 2006 with 60 k miles on it. It was Dealer Certified, so everthing was checked at that point. Now, in 2012 the vehicle breaks down due to automatic transmission failure and dealer tells me the gears parts are starting to chip off and flood the transmission. Many other owners have this same problem. This is outrageous. Automatic Transmission failures are known in Honda Odyssey's and yet Honda fails to acknowledge this problem and puts the onus on costly transmission repairs on customers...customers have had to suffer multiple transmission failures during the life of the vehicle... This is totally unacceptable.. Honda has to help out the owner and take up the cost of the repairs... I have friends who have Toyota and other European and Amercian brands and never had this issue.. Now I and my family are deprived of a vehicle that we so much depend on to do our daily chores... I am never going to buy a Honda again... This is simply outrageous... Making the customers pay for your design problems.... I am going to further file complaints with other state authorities. Honda's reputation is on the line....

What was the result of your complaint go with the NHTSA and did you have to contact the BBB for a result?
Please advise as we are having similar issues with our family's 2003 Honda Pilot.

I have a similar problem with my 2003 Honda Pilot and I'd love to know what the outcome was of your scenario. I am considering starting the process of contacting the NHTSA and BBB as I am preparing for Honda to NOT help my situation either.
